If we go back to the very beginning, I learned about money and hard work from my grandparents on the farm with cows to feed and a goat to milk. By second grade, I was loaning my mom money and charging her interest.
I studied money in college and earned a degree in finance and economics. But then a lot of life happened, and I ended up as a single mom waiting tables. Waiting tables was fantastic for the situation we were in, I made enough money, barely, but I had all the flexibility I needed to still be a good mom too, with being girl scout leader and room parent and all the things. but…
When my youngest daughter was going into kindergarten all day, I decided it was time for a change.
And that’s when I went from a 4 star server at Cracker Barrel to financial independence because I bought, grew, and later sold a business.
It was a very small deal, but life-changing nonetheless.
